Giving is a central value not only in Christendom but also to the people of Ecclesia. It is mandated in Scripture, beginning with our individual lives and permeating into the life of the church. The Gospel of Mark tells us that, The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world that he gave...
Ecclesia grieves with those who recognize the gross financial abuses the church has historically and is currently engaged in, acknowledging that such practices are 1) stunting mission, 2) deranging the clergy, 3) ignoring the poor, 4) a stumbling block for many, often leading to apostasy, and 5) demonstrating the church to be irrelevant to a world that often spends its money in a more selfless fashion than the church. Nevertheless, we recognize the Lordship of Jesus over our lives. As such, we subscribe to the idea in Scripture that Christ owns everything and corporately believe in pooling our resources together for the zealous advance of the glory and gospel of God.
