Partnership means membership at Ecclesia. We have employed the word partnership because we desire to communicate to the fullest degree the reality of a covenant community. Believers must be devoted to one another as well as God and His mission. Often organizations use the word member to imply this role, but we believe this word communicates entitlement in our 21st century vernacular, which is a connotation we would like to avoid. As with all languages, words lose their meanings over time, and so we hope to reorient what it means to be devoted to a church by simply using a different word.
The following is the covenant document that each individual receives to consider before undertaking the partnership process.
ECCLESIA'S PARTNERSHIP DOCUMENT
Faith and Doctrine
In repentance, I have believed and trusted in the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, my Lord and my Savior. God has led me to salvation, away from the wrath of God by His grace through faith in His Son (John 3:16, ]ohn 6:40; Romans 3:23-26; Colossians 3:13-14).
In obedience to the Scriptures I have been baptized to identify with the death, burial and resurrection of ]esus Christ (Colossians 2:12).
I passionately affirm that the Bible is God's inspired Word and the final authority in all matters of faith and doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 19:7-11).
I have read, understand, affirm and embrace Ecclesia's Statement of Faith.
I value the Gospel, the great truth that through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son God has reconciled us to Himself, turned us from being His enemies into His children, and now we are accepted and loved by God on the basis of Christ's redeeming work. I will strive to see my brothers and sisters in Christ through the lens of this Gospel and treat them accordingly with love by being patient with them, kind, ready to forgive, encourage and admonish when necessary ultimately seeking their good as well as mine in Christ (Romans 12:9-21; Colossians 3:12-17).
Thus together with my brothers and sisters I desire to display the goodness of Christ to the world (]ohn 13:35).
As Ecclesia strives to magnify and make Christ known in the community and the world, I will strive to support the church's ministry by joyfully giving my time, money and talents. In short I subscribe to the idea that we ought to spend and be spent for Christ, His Gospel, and His Kingdom (Romans 12:1-8; 2 Corinthians 9:6-14; Proverbs 3:9-10).
I will strive to join the gathering of believers regularly for my own encouragement and encouragement of the family of God (Hebrews 10:23-25).
I affirm and welcome biblical teaching about church discipline. Therefore I will submit to appropriate discipline when approached biblically by brothers and sisters in Christ, and will submit to discipline by church leadership if need should ever arise: I value godly discipline by the caring people of God, since this is an instrument God uses to aid me in pursuit of holiness and in being a better ambassador of Christ to a lost world (Psalm 141:5; Matthew 18:15-17; 1 Corinthians 5:1-5; 2 Corinthians 2:5-8; 1 Timothy 5:20; Hebrews 12:5-11).
I understand the importance of submission to church leadership and will be diligent to preserve unity and peace of the church. I will adhere to Ecclesia's position on primary theological issues and will not be divisive over secondary issues. (Hebrews 13:17; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 5:5)
As I partner with Ecclesia and strive uphold Ecclesia's Values and Vision it is my ambition that I would live as a diligent, faithful disciple of ]esus, that my identity would be in Him, my worship would be for Him, my fellowship would be though Him, and my interaction with culture would be for His glory.
Personal Holiness and Missional Life
I affirm that maintaining a close relationship with ]esus (abiding in Him) is essential for a life that honors God and displays Him for others to know. Therefore I will abide in Him by being in His Word, prayer, obedience, fellowship with believers and by practice of spiritual disciplines (John 15:1-11).
I will pursue personal holiness as an act of worship to God, striving to be like Jesus and seeking to put to death sin in my life (Hebrews 12:14; Ephesians 5:1-2; Romans 12:1-2, Colossians 1:10, Romans 6:11-14).
I passionately affirm that we are to join our lives with the purposes of Christ to bring His light to a broken lost world. Therefore I will strive to live a missional life for and with lesus Christ seeking to extend his kingdom to the places of my influence by walking in a manner worthy of the Lord, sharing about His worth and His work by word and deed, seeking salvation of my family and friends (Matthew 5:14-16; 1 Peter 2:9; Colossians 4:5-6; lohn 12:26).
Seeing the purposes of Christ for all nations and ethnic people groups of the world, I seek to make my life count for the sake of the Gospel going into all the world (Genesis 12:1-3; Matthew 28:18-20; Psalm 67:3-4; Acts 1:8).
I count ]esus to be my Lord, understanding that this means I relinquish my rights to Him, that He is my life, my hope, my goal, my everything (Mark 8:35, Psalm 73:25-26, Philippians 3:8-11).
